What is Blepharoplasty?

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure that is targeted to reduce excess skin of the eyelid to generate a more youthful, fresh appearance.  As we age, the delicate skin of the eyelid may droop or become redundant, leading to visual problems or in general a tired or angry appearance.   Blepharoplasty procedure assists in reversing the aging process by removing this excess skin, for a natural and younger appearance.  The scar for the blepharoplasty is generally concealed in the crease of the eyelid.

In addition, people usually experience loss of fat under the eye, resulting in dark circles and exaggerating the tired appearance.  Local dermal filler, such as JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® or Belotero Balance®, can assist in decreasing dark circles and create a better rested, more youthful and healthier appearance. Blepharoplasty may also be combined with Botox around the corner of the eye, to reduce the appearance of “crow’s feet”, or fine lines that develop as we age due to the frequent use of eye and facial muscles.
