What is a Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift is surgery to remove excess skin and fat from the thigh area, to create a smoother and more aesthetically contoured thigh shape.  Oftentimes, a thigh lift is combined with liposuction to remove excess fat under the skin, for improved overall result.  During your consultation with Dr. Som Kohanzadeh, he will discuss your treatment goals to create a treatment plan that is tailored to you.  A thigh lift is not a substitute for weight loss, and you should continue with diet and exercise to prolong the results.

Who is a Candidate?

It is recommended to achieve your goal weight prior to proceeding with surgery, to avoid need for additional surgery and to optimize your outcome.  A thigh lift is beneficial for those who have excess thigh skin, usually due to weight loss or aging.

What to Expect

After a thigh lift, it is recommended to wear a compression garment at all times for 4-6 weeks post operatively, and an additional 6 weeks during the daytime to follow.  You may have a drain on each thigh, that is typically removed 1-2 weeks post operatively.  The drain will help prevent fluid collections such as seroma or hematoma at the surgery site.  If liposuction is performed in conjunction with your thigh lift, you will expect excess swelling and drainage that will decrease over the few days following your surgery.

You will notice a smoother contour immediately post operatively, which will continue to improve as post-operative swelling reduces.  Your full results should be expected about 3 months post operatively, and the results are long lasting should you continue a stable weight and activity level.
