What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift, also known as forehead lift, is surgery to reduce excess wrinkles and skin of the forehead that develop over time usually due to age.  As we age, gravity and loss of collagen affect our skin, creating less elasticity and gradual droopiness noted by the position of the eyebrows.  Typically, a brow lift is desired to create a more youthful appearance by resuspending the skin and creating a smooth and refreshed result.  Brow lift surgery can also improve the ‘11’s’, the wrinkles that develop between the eyebrows.  For fine lines of the forehead that are not extensive, BOTOX® Cosmetic may serve as an excellent option, which will also help slow down further development of wrinkles.

Dr. Som Kohanzadeh underwent extensive training to perform endoscopic brow lifts, which create similar results with a minimally invasive approach. Thereby, reducing recovery time and minimizing postoperative swelling and bruising.

A brow lift surgery may be offered alone, or combined with additional procedures such as fillers, ThermiTight, mid or full facelift, skin resurfacing, and blepharoplasty. During your consultation, you will discuss with Dr. Som your overall goals to determine a treatment plan that is right for you.

What to Expect

After surgery, you will have a light wrap around the surgical site to improve swelling post operatively and keep the area clean.

Dr. Som will provide additional post-operative instructions to help optimize your healing time and experience.  Typically, you should restrain from excessive activity for the first couple of weeks post-operatively.  Bruising and swelling should improve over the week following surgery, and surgical site will continue to mature and heal over several weeks following surgery to give you your final result.
